Media has consumed modern society with its infatuating ideas of beauty, self improvement, relief from boredom and scandalous celebrities. My dependency on many forms of media includes movies, commercial advertisement, newspapers and rumors of iconic celebrities. (Watch The Video Below. If I had a choice between a cheap dish soap and a dawn dish soap that was more expensive, I would choose The Dawn dish soap becasue of the persuasive advertising used in the video below. This is an example of the influnces the media has on people's choices)

I think the greater the exposure the more accustomed to any type of media seen, and therefore once it is built into your life, depending on it for a source of entertainment it is like an addiction; hard to change, and hard to get rid of. Being exposed and objected to these FEW forms of media have influenced my many ideas on society on its inner workings; such as family relationships, family types, good vs. evil, gender roles etc. The accessibility of media types is also a major reason on why I use a certain dorm of media. Because movies are so easy to find, and the computer is just in the next room if I am ever bored I can just entertain myself by using one of these electronics. The forms of media or things influenced by the media which I think I am independent from are magazines, brand names and comic books. The linking factor to my independence from these forms of media is that I am not objected to them, and therefore never want to buy a brand name when there is a no name product that is how much cheaper. As well I do not have a love for reading comics and magazines because I have never really read them and do not have a fascination or want to read them. Overall, the media has done a “great” job of roping in their clientele with movies, fashion, magazines, and gossip but don not have control over all of society’s thoughts. So, does the mass media have a hold on me? No, not yet.
